Combined Filters VZero Distance Codes Pick 3 The VZero Distance Codes (VTZ-DSC) is a so called "combined filter", a combination of a digit and a math filter. It requires two separate parts to create the filter.
VZero (VTZ) is a different representation of the VTracs (VTX) concept with the difference that the digits start with 0 rather than 1. That simplifies the conversion drastically as the first five digits (0, 1, 2, 3 and 4) are the same in both number and VZero conversion.
To show you how to calculate the VZero Distance Codes filter for a Pick 3 number here an example step by step.
Part I: Pick 3 VZero Distance Codes Conversion Step 1: Divide 991 into separate digits: 991 => 9 9 1 Step 2: Convert each digit to filter: 9 = 4 9 = 4 1 = 1 Step 3: Combine the filters to a string: 4 4 1 = 441
Part II: Pick 3 VZero Distance Codes Conversion Step 1: Divide the number into separate digits: 441 => 4 4 1 Step 2: Calculate the distance between each digit and the next (the last digit with the first): 4 to 4 => 0 4 to 1 => 3 1 to 4 => 3 Step 3: Convert distances to codes (0=E[qual], 1 & 9 = C[onsecutive], 2-8 = N[one]): 0 => E 3 => N 3 => N Step 4: Combine the filters to a string: E N N = ENN
