Combined Filters Neighbors Distance Codes Pick 4 The Neighbors Distance Codes (NB-DSC) is a so called "combined filter", a combination of a digit and a math filter. It requires two separate parts to create the filter.
Neighbors (NB) is yet another alternative to the old VTracs (VTX). Instead of combining digits by adding 5 it selects the all even digits with the next odd digit up, 0 with 1, 2 with 3 all the way to 8 with 9. It is another efficient way to combine an odd with an even digit.
To show you how to calculate the Neighbors Distance Codes filter for a Pick 4 number here an example step by step.
Part I: Pick 4 Neighbors Distance Codes Conversion Step 1: Divide 4088 into separate digits: 4088 => 4 0 8 8 Step 2: Convert each digit to filter: 4 = 3 0 = 1 8 = 5 8 = 5 Step 3: Combine the filters to a string: 3 1 5 5 = 3155
Part II: Pick 4 Neighbors Distance Codes Conversion Step 1: Divide the number into separate digits: 3155 => 3 1 5 5 Step 2: Calculate the distance between each digit and the next (the last digit with the first): 3 to 1 => 2 1 to 5 => 4 5 to 5 => 0 5 to 3 => 2 Step 3: Convert distances to codes (0=E[qual], 1 & 9 = C[onsecutive], 2-8 = N[one]): 2 => N 4 => N 0 => E 2 => N Step 4: Combine the filters to a string: N N E N = NNEN
